Pastor's
Aloha Church and Friends,
Love is the best 4 letter word I know. It is LOVE that is the foundation of our church and the focus of our mission in the world. To share LOVE means to offer ourselves and all that we have to make a difference. Be it a smile, a hug, an encouraging word, sharing a meal, or food, or offering shelter.....or perhaps it's just being present with someone in a tough time. Whatever form it comes in....you know LOVE when you see it, and others know LOVE when they receive it. Trust LOVE to guide you as Love makes all the difference....it means "I can make it after all" just because I have love. To be without LOVE is to have no hope and all God's children need hope. For me, being a church means you live out God's all inclusive love in every aspect of your life. You share with others that it's because of God's love that you have peace, joy and hope. God's love was never to be held onto, but to be given away freely, recklessly, and with wild abandon. My experience in local MCC churches around the world is that the spirit of LOVE is what touches the hearts of people. This is what has always meant so much to me at Open Arms MCC in Pahoa, HI...it's the spirit of Aloha, the Spirit of LOVE that is always present. It's the willingness of the people to share that love openly and welcome all people equally. It matters not if you are straight or gay, you are welcome at Open Arms. This is the message of our new song that Michelle Z. wrote for us..... "Embracing all God's children, you're not alone, at Open Arms you have a home, where all God's children are not alone, E Komo Mai, and welcome home, welcome home." This is the song we will sing to the worldwide MCC this Sunday as we make a video to share for their 40th Anniversary. I really want as many people to come and participate in the making of this video as possible. Let's put our church on the worldwide map of MCC and share the most incredible Aloha (LOVE) that we can. Thousands of people all over the world (in every strange land) will have a chance to hear our message so come on and join us THIS Sunday. Wear your best Aloha shirts and Hawaiian attire so that we can be easily identified as the Hawaiian MCC. We will make the video (which will only take a few minutes) at the end of our service. Then we will share in a mid year update, brainstorming session and share a potluck meal. It will be another great day in paradise. A hui hou ....peace <>< Rev. Deb |
